WARRANTY POLICIES
Air Tight Marine AC Service is an authorized repair facility for Marine Air, Cruisair and Aqua Air air conditioning, Sea Recovery and HRO water makers, U-line and Grunert refrigeration, as well as Eskimo Ice Machine and other manufacturers.
Parts and equipment are usually covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. Some companies have small labor allowances for repairs or replacements. The manufacturer’s instructions are followed when doing warranty work. The best source of warranty information is usually the equipment owner’s manual or the manufacturer’s website.
While most yacht builder warranty issues are handled at the point of sale, Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning Repair has been asked to assist with air conditioning, water maker, and refrigeration issues by builders such as Hatteras, Sunseeker, Broward, Viking, Lazzara, Carver, and Burger.
The term “limited warranty” appears on the majority of warranties. Airtight Marine interprets the term “restricted” to mean that equipment is covered for a particular period of time, that labor allowances are limited to specific dollar sums for specific repair procedures, and that parts can be replaced or repaired at the discretion of the manufacturer.
If repairs cost more than the manufacturer’s warranty requires, the consumer is responsible for the difference. Before attempting a “warranty” repair, the consumer must have a thorough understanding of all the allowances and restrictions involved. Airtight Marine is ready to assist you.
Airtight Marine warrants its labor on repairs to existing systems as well as complete system installations to be free of defects due to faulty workmanship for 30 days from the date of completion of the repair or installation. Manufacturer’s warranties apply to materials used in connection with the repair.
- Owner's name and address
- Date of purchase of the vessel or equipment
- Manufacturer, model and serial number of defective equipment
- Boat name and builder
- Hull number of vessel or registration number
With this information, Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning is able to approach the equipment maker and present a case for obtaining funding for the repair.
The following is how a typical repair will go: Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning is contacted by the customer, who explains the issue and provides the appropriate warranty information. Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning visits the vessel to assess if the issue is due to a production flaw, a repair issue, or an installation issue. If the issue is due to a manufacturing fault and the necessary information has been provided, Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning will fix the issue according to manufacturer guidelines. After that, a warranty claim will be filed. The manufacturer would pay Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning their normal and customary allowance if the claim is approved.
Should the problem be a result of a maintenance issue or an installation problem attributable to someone other than Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning, the customer will be notified and the owner will have the option of paying Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning to make the repair. It would be the customer’s responsibility to approach the responsible party for reimbursement. If the repair requires more work than is covered by the manufacturer’s schedule of allowances, Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning will approach the manufacturer for a “nonstandard”, or special warranty allowance.
Work may have to halt while arrangements are made. In the event that the manufacturer will not cover an overage, it is the customer’s responsibility to pay the difference. Air Tight Marine Air Conditioning makes every attempt at avoiding this circumstance and seeks to provide the yacht owner with options to prevent warranty overages.
